Chiropractor Jeff Manning was voted "Best Dallas Chiropractor" 75204, 75201 and Manning Wellness the best Dallas chiropractic clinic. At Manning Wellness Clinic--a top rated Dallas Chiropractic Clinic--you are treated as one-of-a-kind. Some chiropractic clinics and chiropractors provide a cookie-cutter approach to healthcare. For over 18 years, Dallas Chiropractor Dr. Jeff Manning of Manning Wellness Chiropractic Clinic, has prided himself on a professional course of treatment where he treats the underlying problem (not just the pain/symptom), and through responsible, effective chiropractic care, restores the individual to his or her optimal health. Chiropractor Jeff Manning focuses on pediatric and adult patient care in a relaxed, friendly, professional environment.
As a chiropractor, Dr. Manning identifies your problem, works to minimize or erase your pain—back, neck, shoulders, wrists…everywhere—and helps you to move in the direction of overall wellness and better health. Our comprehensive chiropractic clinic also offers in-house massage therapy and acupuncture.
Your acupuncture provider will give you an exam and ask questions about your pain and how well you are functioning. He or she will also ask about your overall health.
Then your provider will look for the places (called points) on your body to access the chi that is blocked or not flowing right. Each of the points relates to certain health problems or body functions.
Your provider will look for landmarks on your body-using certain muscles or bones, for example-to find the points so that he or she can place the needles.
After the provider finds the points, he or she will quickly tap very thin needles into your skin. He or she will probably place several needles. Some may be placed deeper than others, depending on what the provider believes is needed to restore the flow of chi.
Every provider is different, but in most cases treatment lasts for 15 minutes to an hour. You may have several visits to complete your treatment. Some people have ongoing visits.
We offer: On-site X-ray, Kinetic Therapeutic Taping, cold laser, electric stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy.

Massage has been practiced for thousands of years. Today, if you need or want a massage, you can choose from among 80 massage therapy styles with a wide variety of pressures, movements, and techniques. These all involve pressing, rubbing, or manipulating muscles and other soft tissues with hands and fingers. Sometimes even forearms, elbows, or feet are used.
According to a 2007 American Massage Therapy Association survey, almost a quarter of all adult Americans had at least one massage in the previous year. And, they have a wide range of reasons for doing so. More and more people — especially baby boomers — recognize the health benefits of massage. They choose from among many massage styles to get relief from symptoms or to heal injuries, to help with certain health conditions, and to promote overall wellness.
Which Massage Styles Are Best? You may have noticed that different massage styles are popular at different times. And you may have wondered whether each was just part of a passing fad or the latest, greatest massage technique? Even more important is how can you tell whether the latest style will actually help you?
Styles used in massage therapy range from long, smooth strokes to short, percussive strokes. Some massage therapists use oils and lotions; others do not. Most massage therapists have clients unclothe for a massage, but some do not. A massage can last anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours.
Before you can decide which massage style is best for you, you need to ask yourself a question. Do you simply want a massage for relaxation and stresscontrol? Or do you need symptom relief or help with a certain health condition? Before booking a massage, let the therapist know what you’re looking for and ask which style the therapist uses. Many use more than one style. Or the therapist may customize your massage, depending on your age, condition, or any special needs or goals you have.
What follows is a list of some of the more popular massage therapy styles.
The most common type of massage is Swedish massage therapy. It involves soft, long, kneading strokes, as well as light, rhythmic, tapping strokes, on topmost layers of muscles. This is also combined with movement of the joints. By relieving muscle tension, Swedish therapy can be both relaxing and energizing. And it may even help after an injury.
The four common strokes of Swedish massage are:
Neuromuscular Therapy Massage
Neuromuscular therapy is a form of soft tissue manipulation that aims to treat underlying causes of chronic pain involving the muscular and nervous systems. This medically oriented form of massage addresses trigger points (tender muscles points), circulation, nerve compression, postural issues, and biomechanical problems that can be caused by repetitive movement injuries.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is best for giving attention to certain painful, stiff “trouble spots” in your body. The massage therapist uses slow, deliberate strokes that focus pressure on layers of muscles, tendons, or other tissues deep under your skin. Though less rhythmic than other types of massage, deep tissue massage can be quite therapeutic — relieving chronic patterns of tension and helping with muscle injuries, such as back sprain.
Developed to help with muscle systems used for a particular sport, sports massage uses a variety of approaches to help athletes in training — before, during, or after sports events. You might use it to promote flexibility and help prevent injuries. Or, it may help muscle strains, aiding healing after a sports injury.
We provide nutrition education.

What can I expect from my first visit?
Patients typically visit Dr. Manning for the first time through a personal reference or a referral of another health care specialist. At the first visit, you can expect Dr. Manning to ask you a lot of questions; it’s not just being nosy, but the best way to learn about all of the factors that may have lead to your current condition. The entire visit takes between 45 minutes-1 hour and consists of the following:
In preparation for your consultation with the chiropractor, you will be asked to fill out forms (they are available on our website in the Patient Information area) that provide background information about your symptoms and condition. You will also usually be asked to provide information on family medical history, any pre-existing medical conditions or prior injuries, and previous and current health providers and treatments.
Chiropractic Physical Examination
Once the history has been completed, Dr. Manning will perform a thorough chiropractic examination which will include specific orthopedic and neurological tests to assess:
Diagnostic studies are helpful for chiropractors in revealing pathologies and identifying structural abnormalities that more accurately diagnose a condition. They may or may not be deemed necessary by the chiropractor based upon the results of the history and chiropractic examination.
The most common diagnostic studies used by chiropractors include:
We offer x-rays in our office, but an MRI scan, lab tests and/or more extensive images may be referred to an outside center for which an appointment is needed.
The culmination of the history, examination and diagnostic studies is a specific diagnosis. Once the diagnosis is established, Dr. Manning will determine if the condition will respond to chiropractic care…
…and will explain:
Chiropractic Treatment Plan
We typically begin treatment during the patient’s first chiropractic visit, although we occasionally wait until the next appointment. Our treatment recommendations may include some or all of the following:
Other treatments may be included, such as massage, heat/cold application, and nutrition education. Importantly, at this point Dr. Manning will establish specific goals for your treatment plan.

Laura’s story: I’m not sure it’s actually an ancient Chinese curse, but the last ten or so years have certainly been interesting times! Before that, I’d pretty much done what I’d been told. Good grades+safe major+good school = good job. I was a software engineer in Cambridge, MA, just past entry level, but a far cry from senior developer. Life was about what I could have expected it to be, but there was something missing. Then, in no particular order, 9/11 happened, the economy imploded, and my job didn’t exist anymore. I had a great friend in Dallas who encouraged me to move down here, where I decided to pursue a master’s degree. Natural health and healing had been a hobby of mine for some time, and I had just tried acupuncture, with excellent results. When I found the Dallas College of Oriental Medicine, I knew that was where I would be for a while.
In over six years of clinical practice, including a year of student internship at an inpatient drug-rehab hospital, I have met all kinds of people dealing with all kinds of things, and I love helping people get better. Through my own life and the lives I’ve observed, the biggest truth I’ve noticed is, “It is never going to be just like right now.” Your body, your mind, and your situation, are never going to be in the same state in the same combination again, and that’s wonderful. I hope I can be part of your process in making your future moments as healthy and bright as possible!
